Patient History &
Consultation

  • Medical History Review: The dentist will ask about your medical history, including any existing conditions, medications, allergies, and previous dental treatments.
  • Dental History: Information about past dental issues, treatments, frequency of dental visits, and concerns you may have about your oral health will be discussed.
  • Personal Goals: The dentist will inquire about any specific dental concerns you may have, such as cosmetic goals, pain, or discomfort.

Health Check

  • Visual Inspection: The dentist will examine your teeth, gums, and oral soft tissues for signs of decay, gum disease, and abnormalities. This includes checking the bite and jaw alignment.
  • Oral Cancer Screening: The dentist will check for any signs of oral cancer by looking at the soft tissues in the mouth, including the lips, cheeks, tongue, and the roof and floor of the mouth.
  • Gum Health: The dentist may check for gum disease by measuring the depth of the pockets around your teeth and assessing gum recession.

X-rays

  • Bitewing X-rays: These help identify issues between teeth, such as cavities or decay under existing fillings.
  • Full Mouth X-rays: If necessary, the dentist may take a full set of X-rays to get a more comprehensive view of the teeth, jawbone, and surrounding structures.
  • Panoramic X-ray: In some cases, a panoramic X-ray may be taken to evaluate the entire mouth, including the sinuses, jaw, and teeth.

Exam & Diagnosis

  • Cavities and Decay: The dentist will check for any signs of tooth decay or cavities.
  • Gum Disease: They will assess whether there is any inflammation or infection in the gums, which can lead to gum disease if untreated.
  • Occlusion (Bite): The dentist will examine your bite to determine whether there are any misalignments or issues with how your teeth come together.
  • Tooth Wear and Cracks: The dentist will look for any signs of wear, chips, or cracks in the teeth.

Treatment Plan
Development

  • Immediate Needs: Based on the findings, the dentist will discuss any immediate treatment needs, such as fillings, extractions, or gum therapy.
  • Long-Term Care: The dentist will recommend a plan for preventive care and any future treatments needed to maintain oral health, such as braces, crowns, or professional cleanings.
  • Cosmetic Treatments: If applicable, the dentist will discuss options for cosmetic improvements like teeth whitening, veneers, or bonding.

Preventive Advice

  • The dentist will provide recommendations on how to improve your oral hygiene, such as brushing techniques, flossing, and using mouthwash.
  • They may also offer advice on diet and lifestyle choices that impact oral health.

Arranging Revisit

  • After the exam, the dentist will schedule a follow-up appointment for any treatments that are required.
  • Regular check-ups and cleanings are typically scheduled every six months to maintain oral health.

My inlay fell out on Christmas eve .
I made an appointment to have it stuck back in .
Monica was just brilliant, despite my problem limited jaw opening she did a fantastic job.
So unlike my last dentist who would just spend a very short time sticking back .
Monica took time to clean , the tooth and explain each step.
Green Arbour has been a real eye opener to excellent dentistry and hygienist care for myself and my husband .

I have been going to Green Arbor for a long time and the team, now led by dental surgeon Monika Redding, continues to provide a professional and excellent service with a welcoming and relaxing approach.

If you are apprehensive about going to the dentist, you don’t need to worry at all. I have had fillings and more recently an extraction – all totally painless.

Everyone at the practice is extremely competent in their work, a real professional team that makes you feel at ease. I can thoroughly recommend.

To the detrement of my teeth I was off dentists for a long time after a bad experience or three but Monika is absolutely awesome. Super thorough and very professional. She’s really transformed my oral health and prognosis. The world needs more Monikas.
